Cheltenham’s BIG Museum Project: Test Space – Open from Thursday 31 January to December 2025 – Free entry.

In 2020, our museum wing at The Wilson, Cheltenham’s art gallery and museum closed for refurbishment. With renovation work nearing completion, we will soon introduce four large, modern collection galleries that will shape the future of the museum. Before these spaces are fully developed, we are inviting our communities to be part of the process.

This exhibition features a Test Space with temporary museum displays designed to spark conversations and gather ideas. Evolving throughout the year, it provides an opportunity to explore different ways of displaying objects and artworks, reflect on Cheltenham’s past, and develop a shared vision for the future.

Over the next 12 months, we will be listening, adapting, and making changes based on your input. Regular workshops in the Test Space will offer further opportunities to engage with Cheltenham’s rich heritage and contribute to the museum’s development.

Cheltenham’s BIG Museum Project is not just about the museum—it is about the communities we serve. Your voice will help shape the stories we tell and the way we share them.
